QA/QC Lab Technician

Current distribution includes Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri and Texas. Job Description

The QA/QC Lab Technician will play an integral role in all areas of quality assurance and quality control including performing routine chemical, physical and microbiological testing of both in-process and finished product.

Job Responsibilities

  • 1-week immersion with Operations, Regulatory and Sales teams
  • 1-week immersion with Marketing, Events and Taproom teams
  • Report daily progress, challenges and concerns to QA/QC Lead and Head Brewer
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of the lab
  • Perform daily testing of both pH and gravity on all current fermentations, including rotating weekend shifts
  • Perform chemical, physical and microbial tests on wort, fermenting, carbonating and packaged beer
  • Expand our wet-chemistry testing capabilities including UV-Vis spectrophotometry and beyond
  • Coordinate with QA/QC Lead, cellar and brewers to facilitate timely beer transfers based on data obtained
  • Become proficient in basic operations of enterprise resource planning software (EKOS)
  • Maintain clear direction and professionalism in the face of challenges and adversity
  • Set an example of work efficiencies and upholding proper protocol
  • Work with QA/QC Lead to maintain adequate stock of lab supplies
  • Aid in set-up, testing and break-down of weekly sensory analysis testing

Candidate Qualifications

  • Absolute (don’t apply without these)
    • Flexible schedule, ability to work nights and weekends on occasion
    • Familiarity with aseptic technique and other basic lab skills
    • Ability to stand, crawl, pull, twist and bend for prolonged periods
    • Self-motivated, self-starter  with ability to excel in instances of limited direction
    • Excellent interpersonal, communications, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
    • Dedicated sense of urgency and drive to achieve objectives
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with varying levels of importance and difficulty
    • Computer and software competency, proficiency in Excel
    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
    • Competence with all forms of safety protocol
    • Detail oriented and diligent record keeper
    • Have extreme detail for cleanliness
    • Ability to work in a production brewery which may be loud, hot, humid, cold and slippery
    • Desire to work hard, play hard and get things done
  • Preferred
    • Experience working for a production brewery
    • Undergraduate degree – science or food related discipline
    • Food or beverage packaging systems and processes experience
    • Food or beverage QA/QC programs experience
