Western Commercial Manager

Job Description

The Commercial Manager will represent COOP Ale and Beverage Works brands and lead the development and execution of sales activities with distributor/wholesaler partners, to include meeting or exceeding sales goals, representing the brand at industry events, and managing relationships with distributors/wholesalers and independent retailers in their territory. The ideal candidate will reside in a major market within the territories (ie, Los Angeles (Preferred), San Diego, etc.).  Territories include CA/OR/WA/ID/MT

 

The base salary range for the role is $60,000-70,000 (Initial salary based on Oklahoma City, OK), plus a cost-of-living adjustment for the area in which the candidate resides. This position reports to the respective Regional Commercial Manager.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and enhance relationships with distributor/wholesaler partners in designated territory.
    • Provide support to sales staff through joint efforts across brand portfolio.
    • Create and deliver annual business plan presentations to acquire Wholesaler/ Distributor staff mindshare, establish mutually beneficial expectations and increase sales across all retail channels.
    • Monitor and evaluate budgets and forecasts as they relate to sales, incentives, discounts, billbacks and promotions, on a programmatic and recurring schedule.
    • Educate and work directly with distributor sales teams to ensure brand representation and knowledge in the territory.
  • Build, maintain and enhance relationships with key personnel at local and independent retailers, manage a database of potential, current, and former retailers, and use CRM and internal data analysts to monitor mandated placements of products in their territory.
  • Pursue, manage and adapt company and personal sales objectives.
    • Lead new product launch promotions with independent retailers and lead coordination of Key Account Managers and distributor/wholesaler partners’ key account teams.
    • Gain points of distribution at independent retail outlets throughout territory.
  • Provide sales and brand objectives to COOP marketing department to assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies, point of sale materials, events, sales promotions and advertising at specific retailers and across the designated territory.
  • Work with Key Account Managers to identify and correct distribution gaps related to chain retailer product authorizations and mandates throughout territory.
  • Utilize business intelligence reporting to affect improvements in independent and chain account product placement and sales performance.
  • Create and manage travel and entertainment budget.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Willingness to relocate/live and travel frequently in designated remote market territory
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in sales or marketing in the beverage industry, with a focus on alcoholic beverages
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful sales, promotional and marketing strategies
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with ability to excel in instances of limited direction

Controller

Job Description

The Controller is responsible for the end-to-end accounting process, including accounting policies, procedures and systems, month-end close and internal controls within our rapidly growing business. The Controller will manage all financial statement reporting and analysis, and work to ensure policy compliance and comprehensive accuracy throughout all business divisions. The position will report directly to the CEO and will work closely with senior management and divisional leads to provide financial intelligence across the business. The Controller will manage a team of accountants and finance professionals. Requisite skills and experience include budget management, COGS efficiency, OPEX containment, forecast exercises and iterative modeling. Viable Controller candidates will have extensive financial analysis experience and a background managing teams and working in diverse structural and operational frameworks. The Controller will also manage all regulatory compliance for the business.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting policies, procedures and internal controls, and ensure compliance across the business.
  • Plan, coordinate and direct all operational accounting functions through accounting team.
  • Oversee manufacturing accounting procedures, controls and systems, working closely with supply chain, production and logistics to provide accurate reporting and operational efficiencies.
  • Manage accounting systems and integrations with other software platforms.
  • Responsible for cash flow management and all treasury procedures, policies and controls.
  • Prepare, interpret and analyze all financial statements, reports and outputs, including consolidated statements across multiple organizations and operational areas.
  • Disseminate financial intelligence to operational leads and drive budget accountability and visibility.
  • Work with management to hone business efficiency, profitability and sustainability.
  • Work with management to conduct detailed budget and forecast variance analysis.
  • Work with several operational teams to improve divisional productivity and decision-making.
  • Ensure budget/forecast model and financial statement synchronicity and compatibility.
  • Manage fixed assets accounting and record keeping (purchase, depreciation, disposal, etc.).
  • Coordinate engagements with internal/external auditors and tax authorities.
  • Manage federal and state alcoholic beverage licensure and compliance, across national footprint.

 

Candidate Qualifications

  • CPA required
  • 12+ years accounting experience
  • 4+ years controller experience in private-sector accounting; manufacturing and food/beverage accounting experience preferred
  • 6+ years management experience
  • Consolidated financial statement experience required
  • Experience disseminating financial intelligence to executive management and operational teams
  • Experience working in/with rapidly scaling organizations
  • Experience working with granular and complex budgets
  • In-depth understanding of compliance, audit and tax environments/requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience working with data cubes and BI software preferred
  • Experience working with TTB and state alcoholic beverage regulators preferred
  • Advanced skills and high-level competency in Excel and other MS Office applications, including VBA, macros and scripts
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with ability to excel in instances of limited direction
