COOP Ale Works to expand Texas distribution

COOP Ale Works, a craft beer brewery based in Oklahoma City, has announced plans to further expand distribution in Texas.

COOP will launch in Houston in June 2017, and plans to distribute statewide by the end of 2017 in markets including San Antonio, Austin, Waco and El Paso. COOP’s current Texas distribution markets include Dallas-Fort Worth, Denton, Wichita Falls, Lubbock, Abilene and Amarillo. COOP also currently distributes in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri, in addition to its home state of Oklahoma.

“We are so thrilled by the market acceptance we’ve seen in Texas so far,” COOP’s Director of Sales and Marketing Sean Mossman said. “We’ve been fortunate to build our base on the support of our friends here in Oklahoma, now Texas has been great about welcoming us to their scene. We’re very thankful for that reception.”

Distribution in Texas will include COOP’s flagship beer, F5 IPA, as well as Horny Toad Blonde, DNR Belgian Strong and Spare Rib Pale Ale. Seasonal beers include Alpha Hive Double IPA in Spring, Oktoberfest in Fall, Gran Sport Porter in Winter. Saturday Siren, a new summer seasonal dry-hopped pilsner, will launch in all markets this summer.

In addition to its core styles, COOP will allocate limited release styles to Texas markets, including its Territorial Reserve Barrel-aged series and DNR Cask-It series.

“We really have to give credit to Favorite Brand’s extraordinary sales representative Josh Baggett for helping us get this deal done,” Mossman said. “We met Josh through mutual friends and he showed us around all of the best craft beer spots in Houston. He tried our beer and felt strongly that we needed to be in Houston. We’re lucky that Josh and the entire team at Favorite Brands have such a keen understanding of the Houston market and that they’re supporting our presence there so strongly.”

“We are thrilled to welcome COOP Ale Works into the craft beer scene in Houston and other Texas markets,” Favorite Brands’ Samantha LaMantia said. “The brand has seen great success in North Texas and throughout the region, and we’re happy to introduce craft beer fans statewide to the quality beers that COOP brings to the table.”

Changes to the Taproom

Oktoberfest Liter Stein_smallSB 424 Changes to the COOP Ale Works Taproom:

Beginning Friday, August 26th, we will be open 4-8pm on Thursdays and Fridays. We will also be open 1-5pm on Saturdays. As always, we will regularly host food trucks and live music. Tours are free and run around 2pm and 3pm every Saturday.

The new ruling allowing us to serve full-strength beer for consumption makes us a 21+ only facility. You must be 21 years of age to be at the brewery during Taproom hours.

We will not fill growlers but we will fill crowlers. We chose crowlers because of their superior package stability and cleanliness. (We have relieved many inquiries about Cherry DNR. We will have it available in pints at the Taproom but unfortunately we cannot repackage it.)

We imported hand-labeled limited edition glassware for the Oktoberfest Release Party on Friday August 26th. $15 1 liter steins and $20 liter boots (filled with Oktoberfest, of course) will be available. Pints, pitchers, cases, 6-packs, and crowlers may also be purchased.

In celebration of SB 424, we are giving away a trip for 2 to Denver, Colorado to the Great American Beer Fest on October 8th. Every attendee gains one entry to the drawing and we will announce the winner at 7:30pm. Cant stay until 7:30? At least join us for a 4:24pm toast to everyone who made SB 424 happen!

#trailtotexas event schedule released for both Oklahoma and Texas

May 9, 2016

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma City-based COOP Ale Works will be available in North Texas beginning June 6, 2016. To celebrate the launch, COOP will host a series of events on both sides of the Red River over the next three months.

The event series starts Saturday, May 14 with the #trailtotexas Kickoff Party at the COOP Ale Works Brewery Taproom. It continues in Oklahoma with events scheduled through the end of May. The Texas event series peaks with a premium presence at the Untapped Music & Beer Festival in Ft. Worth on June 11. Texas events continue with 60 events in 60 days spread across Wichita Falls, Denton and the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex.

“As excited as we are to enter Texas, we recognize the role that our fans in Oklahoma have played in our ability to expand distribution beyond our borders,” said COOP Co-Founder Daniel Mercer. “We’ll start this campaign with a series of events that celebrate our loyal friends and neighbors who have supported COOP for the past seven years.”

COOP’s flagship craft beer, F5 IPA, will lead the charge of brands launching in Texas. DNR Belgian-style Dark Ale, Native Amber and Horny Toad Blonde round out the offering that will hit Texas shelves in new six-pack, 12 oz. can configurations.  All four varieties will be found on draft at many on-premise bars and restaurants as well as the most popular growler filling stations.

Joining COOP for many of the events in both states will be the legendary Big Friendly Beer Bus. The Big Friendly is a fully-modified school bus retrofit with an operational taproom.

Oklahoma Event Schedule

The festivities kick off Saturday, May 14 at the Coop Ale Works Brewery Taproom, 4745 Council Heights Road in Oklahoma City. The Big Friendly’s #trailtotexas kickoff features a special, limited draft release of The Big Friendly’s Trail to Texas Peach Berliner Weisse.

This is a very limited release. Draft pours will only be available during the Oklahoma special events listed below. 3,000 bottles will be released in small quantities throughout the schedule of Oklahoma events at soon-to-be-announced locations.

“The Big Friendly’s Trail to Texas is a kettle-soured Berliner Weisse, brewed with Pilsner and wheat malt,” said Head Brewer Blake Jarolim. “We added ten bushels of peaches to add solid fruit character to balance the tartness.”

One highlight of the “60 in 60” tour of North Texas will be COOP’s premium presence at the Untapped Beer & Music Festival in Ft. Worth, Saturday, June 11. The Big Friendly will be the centerpiece of a 30’ x 50’ COOP tasting garden. Festival-goers should expect special releases alongside the four, core COOP craft beers.

“We are thrilled that COOP has chosen to build their Texas launch around the Untapped Festival Ft. Worth,” says Matthew Harber, Co-Founder of Untapped & CEO of Spune Productions. “We’ll have more than 5,000 craft beer lovers from Texas and Oklahoma in attendance. They’ll be blown away by the presence of The Big Friendly Bus and the delicious COOP beers flowing from the taps.”

In addition to the Untapped Festival, COOP will also serve as exclusive sponsor for the Untapped Festival Pre-party, Thursday, June 9 in Ft. Worth. COOP will be pouring at the Best Little Brewfest in Texas, Saturday, June 18 in Lewisville. Additional events are being organized and will be announced via COOP social media feeds as information becomes available.

Alpha Hive is Here

AlphaHive-BlogPhotoWe are excited to announce that we canned our spring seasonal beer for the very first time. Alpha Hive, a recipe of our Head Brewer, originated in small homebrew batches and was adapted for large scale production.  During our Anniversary Party in March, we released Alpha Hive “Test Batch” which used Amarillo hops.  Although there was positive feedback about the beer, we decided that we could make it even better.  The final product is made with Citra hops and we couldn’t be happier with it.

Alpha Hive, a Double IPA, is infused with a fierce American hop profile and a delicate, bee-crafted orange blossom honey from California. A sting of dankness, floral notes and many a compelling nuance make this spring seasonal delicious.  4-pack cans are available at liquor stores throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Arkansas.  Don’t wait too long to snag some, it will only bee around for a limited time…
